Where did the snow go?

It's mid-March already and there are several events coming in April that Long Lake Watershed residents may wish to attend.

Mark your calendars for the following:

Saturday, April 23: Long Lake Watershed Association Spring 2016 Meeting. Apple Valley Public Library.

Our April 23 meeting agenda is shaping up nicely, with several guest speakers:

  1. Adam Fleet from Friends of the Mississippi River will share new tips of what we as residents can do to improve water quality (15 minutes or so).

  2. The City of Apple Valley, including Matt, the new Public Works Director, and Jessica and Jane, will provide an update on the grant process (were we approved; funding options if not), the contracting process for chemical applications (bids are due April 4th); Water Quality survey results/ongoing measurements; Iron Enhanced Filter should be online by our meeting date; the TMDL Task Force process, including a consultant hired to lead the process, etc.

Plan for the spring meeting to last 90 minutes to two hours.

Saturday, April 23: Urban Waters Forum, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. While this forum conflicts with the LLWA Spring meeting day/time, we are sharing the information in case you are interested. Here is a link to register, in the event you are interested in attending this forum: http://www.arboretum.umn.edu/2016UrbanWaters.aspx.

Saturday, April 30: The Apple Valley tree/shrub orders available for pick up (you can order trees and shrubs right now. To view the order form, visit: http://www.cityofapplevalley.org/DocumentCenter/View/875.
